Melissa Starkie has recently submitted her PhD thesis at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), congratulations!
Thesis title: Systematics and evolution of Australian Dacini fruit flies (Diptera: Tephritidae)
"My PhD thesis aimed to produce a comprehensively sampled phylogeny of the Australian Dacini. This phylogeny allowed me to investigate divergence pathways of species in the region and the evolution of ancestral traits. Results from the phylogeny were also used to inform taxonomic revisions of key pest species groups".
Melissa is now working at the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries as an Entomologist.
